What You Should Do To Capitalize on Digital Advertising Trends for 2017

Digital Marketing

Today’s post is on what you should do to capitalize on digital advertising trends for 2017. To make the three areas easier to remember, we came up with the acronym ASS: Adtech, Social, and Search.

Enjoy the post!

Adtech Trends for 2017

  • Automate repetitive, mundane tasks. For example, here is a list of common ways to use automated rules for Google Adwords.
  • Instead of focusing on any particular networks, focus on overarching goals across networks. Here, Multi-channel social media monitoring tools such as Shoutlet or Socialbakers will prove to be invaluable.
  • Remarketing campaigns: Do clear targeting with different types of creative advertisements in a systematic manner, in accordance with your consumer’s last visit, or where they last ended up at.

Here, good design is key. You can design your re-marketing campaign in this manner, such that the prospect is likely to be reminded of your brand and your online presence.

Social Trends for 2017

  • Paid social advertising is one social trend for 2017. Selling in the modern world is all about satisfying and engaging the community. First and foremost, find out what your community already likes, and feed them relevant and valuable content. And then, to expand your community, train yourself to be great at paid social advertising. Do paid promotion for some of your best content to resonate with an even larger group of audiences.

Always remember to have a strategy in all channels, and not confuse channels with strategies. Be bold to test things and then do direct targeting. Be specific!

  • Bots and live videos are IN for 2017! According to Social Media Examiner, 14% of marketers experimented with it in 2016. Be bold and experiment with these tools to achieve greater engagement with your audiences. Bots can largely be used in customer service and engagement, whereas live videos can be used to answer any questions your audiences might have immediately, for instance. Research shows that 72% of Twitter users expect responses within the next hour. So use bots and live videos to your advantage.
  • Invest in social listening. There are really handy tools available, such as HootSuite, Klout, Social Mention, Twazzup, TweetReach. Social media listening is a great industry practice to check on your reputation in the market.
  • Increase the use of messaging apps. More and more brands will lean on messaging apps in 2017, especially for customer service. One great example is Hyatt, which uses Facebook Messenger for 24/7 excellent customer service.

Search Trends for 2017

  • To stay ahead of the game, always test the boundaries of your current target groups. For example, in Google search, you can consider targeting people in neighbouring locations vis-a-vis the very locations you are currently targeting, or simply increasing the upper and lower boundaries of age groups by a bit. The logic to this is because we do not know what we do not know, and experimenting on the boundaries might yield really surprising results.
  • Consider investing in dynamic Google Display Networks. This is so that your reader will get the most optimal viewing experiences and enjoy engagement with your brand, regardless of what devices they are using.
  • Experiment and invest in ad extensions to get even better results. Ad extensions basically give readers even more reasons to click on your advertisement on google search. You can modify “seller ratings”, “locations”, “google plus”, “sitelinks”, “call extensions” and “consumer ratings” as some or more ad extensions, for example.
