Congratulations! You have a new subscriber. Or perhaps a user just created a new account. And it’s now time to warmly greet them via great welcome emails.
Why are impressive welcome emails important?
According to McKinsey research, email is also a great method of customer acquisition– 40 times more effective than Facebook and Twitter combined. Whenever you get a new subscriber or new account creator, they are brimming with excitement. You clearly have their attention–so make use of it! And usually, the welcome email is one of the few opportunities to engage this new subscriber on a deep level before his or her interest fades.
You only have one chance to impress–don’t mess up!
For a whole collection of amazing email designs, do check out this comprehensive gallery. In this post, we feature seven of our favourite welcome emails.
Welcome email #1: Goodreads
WE absolutely love the welcome email of Goodreads because it is so easy to understand!
In general, Goodreads follow the 1-2-3 format–They feature three call-to-actions for bookworms like you and me, listed in a manner that is super easy to follow.
Why “three”s? This is because of things mentioned in “threes” stick in the minds of readers. In addition, they are simple to recall!
By including call-to-actions in threes, readers can proceed to interact with the website and start to be acquainted with the top three most important functions. Now, isn’t this wonderful as the copywriting encourages conversion?
#2. Kate Spade
In Kate Spade’s fun welcome email, the colour orange is used to convey a playful and energetic vibe. Which of course is most suited to their target audience of youthful ladies aged between 18-35.
The user is greeted firstly with a stylish “thank you”, then offered a 15% off first purchase. Which lady wouldn’t want just that! 😀
#3. Zalora
Like Kate Spade, Zalora’s main choice of colour is also orange, to convey energy and vibrancy. The shopper is given a $15 gift voucher with an $80 purchase. Interestingly, the $15 gift voucher is visually presented in the form of a physical gift card, probably done deliberately to make users excited over the purchase. This welcome email just makes you want to start shopping immediately!
#4: Dropbox
There is only one call-to-action button with dropbox, which makes it impossible to miss. The simplicity of this welcome email directs you to click that one-button to start installing and using Dropbox. QED.
#5: Uber.
Uber’s welcome email is classy, has three call-to-actions (Like Goodreads), AND includes a “contact us” section in the event whereby you have any queries. This seems to cover all grounds and concerns, which is why we absolutely heart this email!
#6: Airbnb
Once again, we see the power of three rules. What we absolutely also love about AirBnB’s welcome email is also the colour palette. It is kind, gentle on the eye, with a fun element. And after every single feature, there is an immediate call-to-action, so that it is clear that each element can be explored by the new user.
#7: Trello
We love this email by Trello because it is so cute and simple!
True to its function of making many messy tasks organized, Trello simplifies things with their welcome email, which is why we love it.
We hope you have enjoyed this post! Have fun designing warm welcome emails!
